Story/anime where a girl falls in love with the emperor?
I've read the Dragon Keeper trilogy about a girl who befriends the emperor, and watched some of the story of saiunkoku where ryuki, the emperor, is in love with shurei.
I really like that kind of plot, so are there other shows that involves the emperor and a girl?
There is an old animated movie called "Like the Clouds, Like the Wind" (Kumo no youni, Kaze no Youni) about a girl from the country who joins the royal court of the emperor.

And although different, I'm reminded of the manga "Red River" which features a girl transported to the Hittite empire during the age of ancient Egypt, and becomes involved with the prince there.
